I woke up early and could hear the sound of the wind raging outside so I grabbed my camera and headed to Portreath with the hope of seeing some big waves. When I arrived I could see that the tide was in, the water was spilling over the edge of the harbour and the boats were rocking about violently. I headed up some steps to overlook the breakwater and the newly rebuild "monkey hut" and was not disappointed with the waves. I wanted to use a slow shutter speed to capture the motion in the water but I hadn't been organised enough to bring my tripod with me so I braced myself against a wall and fired of a load of shots, hoping that at least one would be sharp.
